At Blackstone Consulting, Inc. (BCI), service means showing up for our communities—and our long-standing partnership with the J3 Foundation is a powerful example of that commitment in action.
J3 Foundation helps fourth-grade students in under-resourced schools build the skills, habits, and confidence they need to become lifelong readers. Through small-group reading support, culturally relevant books, and social-emotional learning, J3 creates a welcoming space where students thrive.
Since launching in 2018 with just 15 students, J3 now serves more than 1,000 students annually across 26 school sites in the greater Los Angeles area. Their reach is powerful:
- 94% of students say they feel they can succeed in all subjects after joining J3
- 89% report reading more
- 88% feel their reading skills have improved
- 75% of parents say the program boosted their child’s confidence in reading
BCI teams have supported J3 over the years through book drives, employee donations, peer-to-peer fundraisers, and leadership support in areas like fundraising and communications. At our annual team-building event, employees helped raise awareness and collected books for J3’s school-based libraries—resources that are now helping young readers connect with stories that inspire them.
As we celebrate National Volunteer Month, we’re proud to stand beside partners like J3 Foundation—whose mission to unlock student potential mirrors our own belief in people-first impact.
There are also many ways for employees and community members to continue supporting J3’s mission:
- Make a financial contribution to help purchase books and learning materials
- Donate books through J3’s curated Amazon wishlist or by organizing a book drive
- Volunteer to help prep materials for the school year (Interested volunteers can fill out a volunteer interest form or email volunteer@j3foundationla.org)
- Share J3’s mission and help expand their reach to more schools and partners
At BCI, service is more than a value—it’s how we help build stronger futures. We’re honored to stand alongside J3 Foundation in their work to build stronger readers, stronger students, and stronger communities.
